# Cubs

Cubs are the Free to Play entry to the world of Gemhunters.

Every Gemhunters player starts with 4 Cubs and you may recruit up to a maximum of 12 at any given time. To recruit extra Cubs you first need to purchase a Lodge in the Barracks for a small amount of $BERAMO. 

Each Lodge comes with a newly recruited Cub and once you promote this cub to a Brave it will free the lodge up for you to recruit another Cub (again for a small amount of $BERAMO).

Cubs obtain Shards instead of Gems when they go on missions, as well as loot that is on average less rare than their more powerful brethren.
