# Gems

Beramonium Gems are an in-game, off-chain, non-transferable currency. You can’t buy or sell them, and they’re linked to your Gemhunters account.

Currently, there are three main use cases for Gems:&#x20;

**Obtaining new missions:** The first mission of each type is free; subsequent ones require Gems. For example, to start three Quests simultaneously, you must buy the extra two with Gems.

Mission purchase cost goes up every time you purchase a mission and resets once the initial free mission timer finishes. **Strategize wisely, as there's no guarantee that you will always receive more Gems than the mission purchase cost!**&#x20;
